Unit submissions and planned submissions by NYIP Student Bruce Warner for assignments by Unit
Look through consumer magazines and select an advertisement containing a product
photograph that appeals to you. It should contain items and/or products that are easy for you to obtain.
We want you to try to make an exact duplicate of the photograph in the ad. Do not simply photograph the
picture in the ad. Duplicate the setup and shoot it as best you can.
Option A - Mascara Ad recreated. The magazine ad showed everything BUT the eyes overexposed (supposedly to accent the mascara). My granddaughter has gorgeous blue eyes (like here mother) and I love the shot, but there is no product here, meaning it MAY not fill the requirement. The funny thing is that the ad in the December 2012 issue of Teen Vogue had Taylor Swift and the product was not in the image there either. My personal opinion was that they were selling "BE LIKE TAYLOR" more than notice our mascara.
Option B - Charge Point Ad from Charged Electric Vehicle Magazine. The Ad has a blue Nissan Leaf (I might have been able to borrow my daughter's but decided not). I used my Black Nissan Leaf instead. Since I didn't have a charge station available from Charge Point and the ability to place it and the car in a controlled location, I cropped out the brick wall at the local Kohl's store and added the photo I took of clouds in the sky. Both photographs are my own, so it is totally my own creation. This will probably end up being the final image, but I like both of them.
Only affiliation with the New York Institute of Photography is that I am a student in the Complete Course in Professional Photography. I highly recommend the institute for your photographic training if you are interesting in taking professional quality photographs, can't get to a regular classroom, and/or want to enroll in the only distance learning school in the top 5 rated photography schools in the USA.
